Giants brace to face state No. 2 Fresno City
Having been held to one goal over its past five games, the task gets no easier for COS (6-6-3, 0-4-1) in its next match when it plays at Central Valley Conference-leading and state No. 2-ranked Fresno City (15-0-2, 4-0-1) on Nov. 1.
Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. COS lost to the Rams 8-0 on Oct. 12 during the first round of CVC play.
The Giants were shutout for the fourth time in their past five matches during a 5-0 loss to West Hills-Lemoore (7-6-1, 1-4-0) on Oct. 29. Jaena Campos scored the first of her two goals off a Litzy Pimentel assist in the 15th minute for the only goal the Golden Eagles would need. Pimentel also scored twice for West Hills-Lemoore.
COS goalkeepers Ciana Koo (Woodlake) had four saves in 65 minutes and Maria Camacho (Lindsay) made two saves in 25 minutes.
Next week, the Giants travel to Clovis (6-6-2, 4-1-0) at 3 p.m. Nov. 5 and Taft (8-5-3, 3-1-1) at 1 p.m. Nov. 8.
COS' next home match, on its campus field, is scheduled for 1 p.m. Nov. 12 against Reedley (7-5-2, 1-3-1).
