Giants Sweep Porterville in 9-0 Shutout Victory
VISALIA, Calif. – The College of the Sequoias women's tennis team delivered a dominant performance, shutting out Porterville College 9-0 on February 18. The Giants controlled the match from start to finish, winning all doubles and singles matches in straight sets.
Doubles Play Sets the Tone
The Giants came out strong in doubles, winning all three matchups convincingly. The No. 1 duo of Ruby Zambrano (Dinuba HS) and Jaden Godoy (Dinuba HS) earned an 8-3 victory. At No. 2, Summer Herrera (Mt. Whitney HS) and Mia Orosco (Dinuba HS) controlled play for an 8-1 win. The No. 3 team of Hannah Salazar (Tulare Western HS) and Sadie Avila (Hanford HS) completed the doubles sweep with a flawless 8-0 victory.
Singles Play Seals the Win
Sequoias carried their momentum into singles, winning all six matches in straight sets. Herrera led the charge at No. 1 with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 victory. Zambrano, Godoy, Avila, Salazar, and Orosco each followed with outstanding performances.
Head coach Martin Herrera praised the team's focus and execution, stating, "The team played at a high level today. We were aggressive in doubles, and our singles play was consistent across the board. We really kept our composure and stuck to our game plan."

The Giants will look to maintain their momentum as they continue their conference schedule as they host Fresno City on Friday, February 21 at 1:00 p.m.
