Giants Sweep Reedley in 9-0 Conference Victory

REEDLEY, Calif. – The College of the Sequoias women's tennis team delivered another great performance, shutting out Reedley College 9-0 on March 7. The Giants executed their game plan, winning every singles and doubles match.

Doubles Play Sets the Tone

Sequoias started strong in doubles, controlling all the matchups. The No. 1 duo of Ruby Zambrano (Dinuba HS) and Jaden Godoy (Dinuba HS) secured an 8-4 win with aggressive net play and steady baseline consistency. At No. 2, Sadie Avila (Hanford HS) and Hannah Salazar (Tulare Western HS) dominated with an 8-0 victory, using smart shot selection to overpower their opponents.

Singles Play Completes the Sweep

The Giants carried their momentum into singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets. Godoy led the charge at No. 1 with a solid 6-3, 6-2 victory. Avila, Salazar, Mia Orosco (Dinuba HS), and Emmari Montor (Mt Whitney HS) all recorded shutout or near-shutout wins, showcasing the depth of the COS lineup.

Head coach Martin Herrera praised the team's execution, stating, "Our coaching staff was pleased with how our ladies executed their game plans in both singles and doubles. They stayed focused and played disciplined tennis throughout the match."

The Giants will look to build on their momentum as they continue conference play at home next week. They are set to host Porterville on Tuesday, March 11, at 1:00 p.m., followed by a matchup against Fresno City on Wednesday, March 12, at 1:00 p.m.
