Saldana-led attack powers Giants to win
Alex Saldana (El Diamante) scored off a Jose Cardenas (Delano) assist, and assisted on goals by Ismael Moreno (Dinuba) and Christopher Romo (Tulare Union) to lead COS to a Central Valley Conference victory in its only game of the week, 5-4 over West Hills-Lemoore on Oct. 8.
Cardenas and Daniel Duran (Golden West) also scored for the Giants (3-6-2, 1-2-0). Ezequiel Rodriguez (Farmersville) and Oscar Diaz (Cesar Chavez) contributed assists.
The Giants' next four games are out of conference, including a match-up at Riverway Sports Park against Cosumnes River at 4 p.m. Oct. 15, and a meeting at state No. 6-ranked Folsom Lake at 6 p.m. Oct. 18.
COS resumes conference play at 2 p.m. Oct. 29 on the road against state No. 3 Fresno City (9-0-3, 3-0-0).
