SARATOGA - COS Volleyball split their two matches, going 1-1 in the Viking Classic.
Friday saw the Giants get off on the wrong foot, as they lost 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-18) to Sacramento City. Idalis Rubalcava led COS with 14 kills and 15 points.Phoebe Todenhoft had 14 out of the 32 Giant digs on the day. Sequoias could not handle Panthers outside hitter Keeley Franz as she had 12 kills.
In the second game Sequoias defeated host West Valley, 3-0.
COS won the first set comfortably 25-18, but the Giants had to battle for the last two, winning 25-21, and 25-20. Rubalcava again led COS in kills with 13 and had 14 points. Brittney Roush had a star performance, as she had 24 digs.
The Giants will host Porterville in their home opener this Wednesday at Thomas Porter Field House. The match will begin at 6 p.m.
