VISALIA - COS Volleyball defeated Los Medanos 3-1 in the play-in round of the NorCal Championships on Saturday.
Head coach Kim Rix was proud of her team for accomplishing a new height, compared to last season.
"Last year, this is where our season ended so it was a huge win for us," Rix said. "We know our next match is going to be tough so now we have to mentally prepare for it."
The 16th seeded Giants won a competitive first set 25-19. The Mustangs came back and tied it up 1-1 after winning the second set 25-19.
COS (17-6, 13-3) rebounded and took the final two sets 25-18 and 25-16 to win 3-1.
Sequoias will travel to Aptos to face No. 1 seed Cabrillo on Tuesday. The first round playoff match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
