Volleyball improve winning streak to five
The COS women's volleyball team improved their winning streak to five straight matches on Wednesday after defeating Merced 3-0.
"We're feeling really good about our win," COS head coach Kim Rix said. "A lot of great things happened tonight. The girls were really coachable and made adjustments well during the match."
Rix's coaching helped COS (15-4, 12-1 CVC) win the first set 25-18. In the second set, Merced (10-8, 8-6 CVC) battled, but the Giants survived 25-23. They would dominate the third set 25-14 and go on to win their 15 consecutive set during the win streak.
The second place Giants will travel to Sonora to play Columbia on Friday at 5 p.m.
Rix knows the importance of COS' upcoming opponents, and is encouraging her team to not look ahead.
"We know that Fresno is right around the corner, but we also have some tough matches beforehand hand," Rix said. "We can't take anyone lightly and we're just trying to improve in each match. We don't feel like we've peaked yet and look forward to getting stronger every day."
