
Giants take rough road loss in Rocklin
The College of the Sequoias football team was defeated 28-14 by the Sierra College Wolverines on Saturday night in Rocklin.
COS (2-2) got on the board first with quarterback Nolan LeForge's four-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
The Giants lead was erased seven minutes later as Sierra quarterback Joseph Curry threw a 47-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Aiyuk. This touchdown was the start of the Wolverines scoring 28 unanswered points.
Sierra (2-2) took a 14-7 lead in the second quarter with a help of wide receiver Draysean Hudson. Hudson got the opportunity to throw the ball and gave Brandon Aiyuk his second receiving touchdown of the game.
Hudson recorded another touchdown in the third quarter, this time in a more conventional way. He caught Curry's 15-yard pass for his second total touchdown.
Curry registered his third touchdown of the night, finding Morgan Rein-Robinson from the three-yard line, extending Sierra's lead to 28-7.
LeForge peeled a touchdown back for the Giants with 1:10 remaining. Sergio Pena caught LeForge's only touchdown of the night, for 23 yards.
LeForge finished the game 14-for-33, with 173-yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.
Wide receiver Blake Wells led COS in receiving yards with 132 on seven receptions. Running back Dvonte Crandle registered a team-high 84 yards rushing, on 11 carries.
On the other side of the ball, Safety Jailyn Mays had a team-high six tackles, while Kingsley Ayeni registered the only sack for COS.
Next up for the Giants is a road trip to Sacramento City on Sept. 30. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. in Northern California.
