Porchia named CCCAA Player of the Week
Sequoias sophomore running back Elijah Porchia was named CCCAA State Player of the Week for all purpose running on Tuesday. Porchia had a total of 220 all purpose yards, including returns.
The Mission Oak graduate rushed for 178 yards on 16 carries and had three touchdowns. Porchia's longest run of the day was a 68 yard TD on the first play from scrimmage. He also tallied two pass receptions for 29 yards.
"Porchia is our guy," head coach Irv Pankey said. "He got the job done and played really well."
After defeating Contra Costa 55-47 last Saturday, COS checks in at no. 29 in the latest CCCAA Football Poll. The Giants were unranked in the previous Preseason Poll.
College of the Sequoias will travel to face Feather River on Saturday at 2 p.m.
