QUINCY - The College of the Sequoias (2-0) football team came back from a 14 point deficit to defeat Feather River 28-21 on Saturday.
Feather River (0-2) scored twice in the first quarter. Khevani Francois took his only carry of the day to paydirt and Ronneldon Ellington's 2-yard punch in gave the Golden Eagles a 14-0 lead.
Giants' running back Elijah Porchia (Mission Oak) got COS on the board in the second quarter on a one-yard touchdown run. COS only trailed by one touchdown, 14-7, with 9:18 left in the first half.
The Golden Eagles took a two-touchdown lead on a five minute, 11 play, 72 yard Feather River drive, as it was capped off by Daniel Lindsey's two-yard run.
Trailing 21-7 in the second quarter, Thomas Wilson found the end zone on a 3:12, five-yard scamper, just before halftime, to cut the deficit back to seven points, 21-14.
In the second half Sequoias' defense was locked in. The Giants did not allow Feather River to score any points.
The defensive performance opened the door for Porchia to score his second touchdown of the day. The Giant running back knotted things up at 21-21 with 9:15 remaining in the third quarter.
With the Golden Eagles on the ropes, COS took advantage and forced a fumble. Sequoias recovered on Feather River's four-yard-line and it didn't take long for the Giants to take the lead.
On the ensuing possession, it only took COS two plays to score. Wilson's pass found the hands of Sylvester Augustyn for the Giants to take a 28-21 lead. That was their first lead of the game and the Giants would hold on to it, as they won 28-21.
Wilson finished the afternoon passing for 203 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions, on 14 of 26 competitions.
Porchia had a productive day as well, rushing for 79 yards on 16 carries. The sophomore running back also added two receiving catches for 27 yards to his stat line.
College of the Sequoias will be on the road for the second straight week, traveling to Diablo Valley this Friday. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. in the Bay Area.
