COS Football Travels to Diablo Valley
The COS football team (2-0) broke into the statewide rankings this week at #22 and will travel to #24 Diablo Valley College (1-1) this Friday at 7pm. COS and Diablo Valley are coming off of road wins with the Giants defeating Feather River last Saturday 28-21 and
Diablo Valley went on the road to defeat Chabot College who is also in the Valley Conference along with COS. Diablo Valley's lone loss came to #3 state ranked American River College by a score of 23-20 where ARC needed a last minute 76 yard touchdown completion to beat Diablo Valley. "DVC is one play away from being undefeated and ranked in the top 10 in the state. They are a good opponent and they have a great quarterback who can really throw" said COS head coach Irv Pankey.
DVC quarterback Jadon Brisendine is averaging 301 yards per game on the season which is good for fourth overall in the state. COS's secondary struggled in the first game of the season against Contra Costa but showed much improvement last week against Feather River by only allowing 79 yards in the air including one interception. The COS secondary is anchored by safety Ron LaForce. LaForce leads COS in just about every defensive statistical category to date, including two interceptions on the season. LaForce was an All Valley Conference selection two seasons ago in his freshmen campaign and was just named the Visalia Quarterback Club's player of the week honoree for COS.
Kickoff is slated for 7pm in Pleasant Hill, CA. The Giants will return home next week when they take on Sierra College at 2pm.
