
COS hosts West Hills-Coalinga in clash of conference contenders

Second place in the Central Valley Conference women's volleyball standings will be on the line Oct. 18 when College of the Sequoias hosts West Hills-Coalinga.
The Giants (13-6 overall) enter 7-1 in conference play. The Falcons (10-6 overall) are 6-2. Both teams are listed among the "Best of the Rest" in the California Community College Women's Volleyball Association's state rankings.
The match is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. from Porter Field House.
COS has been led by Christa Pilgrim (Mission Oak High) and Hazel Martinez (Mission Oak), who have delivered 149 and 130 kills respectively.
The Giants have also received 258 digs from Alexis Carmona (Madera) and 279 assists from Sydney Guinn (Exeter).
COS is coming off a 25-18, 25-9, 25-11 victory at Reedley (1-10, 0-8) on Oct. 16 that snapped a three-match losing streak.
COS plays at Porterville (9-10, 3-5) at 6 p.m. Oct. 23.
State No. 3-ranked Fresno City (20-2, 8-0) sits atop the Central Valley Conference.
