Giants roll to 4th straight win, travel to Taft next
COS (16-6, 10-1) rides a four-match winning streak into its next match, scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 1 match at Taft (7-17, 5-7).
The Giants remained one match behind Central Valley Conference-leading and state No. 3-ranked Fresno City (23-2, 11-0) following a 25-20, 25-14, 25-19 victory over Columbia on Oct. 30 at Porter Field House.
Hazel Martinez (Mission Oak) led the way for COS with 12 kills and two solo blocks. Christa Pilgrim (Mission Oak) added 11 kills and one ace.
The Giants also received seven kills from Karen Rodriguez (Kingsburg) and 30 assists from Sydney Guinn (Exeter).
COS will look to bolster its resume for a fifth consecutive postseason appearance, and move closer to a second straight 20-win season, next week when it hosts Merced (10-6, 7-5) on Nov. 6 and plays at West Hills-Lemoore (3-12, 3-8) on Nov. 8.
