
Giants' opener in NorCal Regional set for Nov. 26
COS spent the weekend preparing to make its fifth consecutive appearance in the Northern California Regionals.
The 11th-seeded Giants (20-7) travel to Rocklin on Nov. 26 to face No. 6 Sierra (21-7) in the first round. The match is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
The winner advances to the second round Nov. 30. Winners of those matches move on to the eight-team state championship tournament Dec. 6-8 at Southwestern College in Chula Vista.
COS will be led by its righty/lefty hitting duo of Christa Pilgrim (Mission Oak) and Hazel Martinez (Mission Oak), who have produced 248 and 232 kills, respectively. The Giants have also received 126 kills from Karen Rodriguez (Kingsburg) and 123 kills from Madison Sousa (Hanford West).
Sydney Guinn (Exeter) and Kia Campbell (Coalinga) have fed the Giants hitters with 471 and 301 assists, respectively, while Alexis Carmona (Madera) had led the back row with 414 digs.
COS has not advanced past the first round in its previous four NorCal Regional appearances.
