VISALIA - Men's Soccer defeated San Joaquin Delta 2-1 in a Big 8/CVC crossover game, Tuesday afternoon.
"It wasn't our best performance by any means," head coach Scott Rogers said. "We played sloppy today but hung in there."
COS (7-5-2, 2-1-1 CVC) went down 0-1 as Mustangs midfielder Oscar Ramirez gave San Joaquin Delta (5-7-3, 0-2-3 Big 8) the lead.
SJD midfielder Juan Acosta received a red card, and the Giants knew they had an opportunity to pull even.
COS did just that, and then some. The Giants would rally and score the next two goals to give them the victory.
Sequoias will travel to Modesto (2-7-6, 1-3-1 Big 8) on Friday, as they play their last match of Big 8/CVC crossover play. The Pirates have not won a match this season in the month of October. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m. at MCJ Stadium.
"If we can get through Friday without any injury I'll be happy," Rogers said. "We are banged up right now. So we need to get healthy to make a good push through the second half of conference. That will be our main focus right now."
