VISALIA - Men's Soccer lost 2-1 on a late go-ahead goal by No. 2 Fresno City.
"We are hanging by a thread for a playoff spot right now," head coach Scott Rogers said. "I feel that that is enough motivation to help us prepare for yet another tough match. We simply have to believe in each other and bring 110 percent."
Jonathan Rodriguez gave the Rams a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute. The Giants (8-6-4, 2-2-3 CVC) would equalize in the 58th minute, but Noel Prieto would score the go-ahead goal in the 77th minute.
With the win, Fresno City (15-1-4, 5-1-1 CVC) clinched an outright Central Valley Conference title.
COS will have their season finale on the road, as they play Taft on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
If the Giants win, their chances of a playoff berth are still alive. Rogers explained that even he has trouble understanding the system.
"It's all based on power points," Rogers said. "It's quite a complicated system. However, I preach to my men that all they need to be concerned with is putting forth their best and hope that on that day it will produce a win."
