Men's Basketball battle in last day of Cuesta Tournament
SAN LUIS OBISPO - Men's Basketball closed out the Cuesta Rabobank Tournament with a loss, as they were defeated 77-67 by No. 2 Saddleback.
"The team battled all weekend," head coach Rusty Smith said. "As a coach, that is what you want. We had the last shot against Cuesta for the win and did not make it. Saddleback is the highly-rated and talented team they have been in the final for the last 3 years."
Freshman point guard Austin Armstead led the Giants in scoring for the second straight game, with 16.
Freshman guard Connor Tuttle had 10 points off the bench in the loss.
Despite going 1-2 in the tournament, Smith was happy with the effort his team gave.
"I'm very proud of the way we competed," Smith said. "I feel our team is moving in the right direction."
COS will compete in two weeks at the Fresno Classic. Their first game will be against No. 1 San Francisco on Nov. 18 at 3 p.m.
