Giants fall on Sophomore Night
COS could not hold onto their eight point halftime lead, losing 83-73 to No. 12 Fresno City on Saturday.
The Giants (12-16, 6-8 CVC) lit up the scoreboard against their rival in the first half. Sequoias had a 12 point lead at one point thanks to the shooting of Isaiah Johnson.
It looked as if COS would upset their rival FCC and sneak into the playoffs.
Tyus Millhollin and Cole Morgan had other ideas.
Cole hit an old fashioned three-point play, starting a 15-2 Fresno run to put the Rams in front, 50-48, with 14 minutes to go.
COS regained the lead briefly but Millhollin's trey with 12:42 to play put Fresno in the lead for good.
Rams head coach Ed Madec picked up his 400th career win and state-record 16th straight Central Valley Conference championship.
Johnson finished with a team high 20 points, while Austin Armstead chipped in 15.
Sophomores Zac Nuttall and Bobby Kazar each finished their last COS game in double-digits. Kazar had 12 and Nuttall contributed 12.
COS ends their season with a receord of 12-16 and 6-8 in conference.
