
First Round Recap of Kirby Mannon Pepsi/Wyndham Tournament

VISALIA - It was the Austin Armstead and Isaiah Johnson show at Porter Field House. College of the Sequoias defeated Pasadena, 90-62, Friday night in the first round of the Kirby Mannon Pepsi/Wyndham Tournament.
The COS guards combined to score 48 points on 16 shots. Johnson sank 21 points in the victory and was perfect from the free throw line going 5 for 5. Armstead had 27 points and was just one rebound shy of a double-double, finishing with 9.
Off the bench Zac Nuttall contributed 17 points in 32 minutes.
The Giant's bread and butter was getting to rebounds first. They out-rebounded the Lancers 42 to 29. COS largest lead was 33 points in the second quarter.
COS also took advantage of Pasadena's defense and scored 42 points in the paint.
Sequoias will advance to the second round and play Cerritos on Saturday at 7 p.m.

The Pirates got back into the win column with Cordel Hankerson's 33 points. El Camino forward Trevor LaCount also had 23 points and 7 assists.
No. 6 San Bernardino 75 - Shasta 62
This game featured seven lead changes before the Wolverines took full control. San Bernardino guard Glorie Biongo scored a team-high 19 points in the win. Wolverine forward Saladine Ganda came off the bench and had a double-double. He scored 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
No. 19 Cerritos 84 - Oxnard 66
Cerritos guard Brian Nebo lit up the scoreboard with 22 points. His teammates Cristian Perez, Dezmon Murphy, and Tyler Payne all scored in double digits to advance in the tournament.
