VISALIA - COS women's basketball needed a buzzer beating basket to defeat LA Valley 63-61 on Friday at Porter Field House.
COS (10-1) power forward Dojahnae Senegal only had 4 points, but the buzzer beater made that number a non-factor. Her basket will advance Sequoias to the next round.
Zharia McCollum had 19 points and led the Giants in scoring for the second straight game.
Idalis Rubalcava came two rebounds shy of a double-double, as she scored 15 points and recorded 8 rebounds.
Sequoias will play Ventura in the semi-finals of the Gilcrest Tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Porter Field House.
