COS move on to State Championship Tournament
This is a modal window.
Dojahnae Senegal's double-double led the No. 2-seeded College of the Sequoias women's basketball team to a 82-43 victory over No. 10 American River.
With the win, COS (27-3) will return to the State Championship Tournament for the first time since 1995.
Sequoias led the entire game, with their largest lead being 39 points. A big factor for the lead was the Giants' bench outscoring American River's bench 41 to 2.
The Giants held the Beavers to just four points in the first quarter, while putting up 25.
Sequoias would take a 37-14 lead into halftime, pretty much sealing the game. Zharia McCollum scored seven points and Idalis Rubalcava scored six in the first half of play.
Rubalcava and McCollum each finished the game with 13 points.
Senegal would get her double-double in the fourth quarter, pulling down her tenth rebound of the game. She finished with a team-high 16 points in the win.
COS will wait until tomorrow to see who they play in the State Championship Tournament.
